Swainson's Hawk (Buteo swainsoni) (4)

- Checklist: https://ebird.org/checklist/S132268298
- Comments: "An adult light-morph Swainsons hawk at 6:50 pm was flying low headed east along hwy 192 below (north) of Hunt Drive x Ortega Reservoir. Because it was flying so low I lost it after it paused to circle, apparently dropping into the trees nearby to roost! Earlier between 6:05 pm and 6:23 pm 4 westbound Swainsons hawks passed (at 6:05, 6:19, 6:21, 6:23 pm). The first bird flew directly through and was in sight for four minutes as it cleared Montecito and neared Gibraltar Rd. The last 3 came in very high one at a time and formed a kettle, tracing back east and south with one possibly continuing west. Im unsure whether the bird at 6:50 pm was one of the 3 which had lingered earlier and had since descended into the valley or if this was really a fifth bird. Yet another hawk went unidentified as it went to roost in eucalyptus nearby. I was unable to find it when I went and inspected those trees."

- Checklist: https://ebird.org/checklist/S132270108
- Comments: "Incidental, unmistakable sighting. Woodpecker with all-white head and black body first observed in flight between tall pines south of Target. Eventually vocalized with the characteristic call several times in a row. I tracked the bird from tree to tree for several minutes but was unable to obtain a photograph before it flew off to the northwest."
