I was part of a loosely-associating group who birded Scorpion yesterday; I was there from about 10:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. As far as I'm aware none of us were able to re-find the Bay-breasted Warbler or the Ovenbird. In general birding was slower in terms of rarities than it had been on the two recent trips I made there in the past few weeks. It was still very enjoyable birding, and there were, in truth, some very neat continuing rarities present (an immature male Rose-breasted Grosbeak, a Yellow-breasted Chat, an Indigo Bunting, and a sparrow I've reported as Spizella sp. because I can't decide if it's a Chipping or a Clay-colored). It only seemed "slow" in comparison to the amazing birding that came before it. Additional details, including photos of my Spizella sp. for anyone willing to share opinions about it, are in my eBird trip report: https://ebird.org/tripreport/81655view=photos John Callender Carpinteria |
