    I have had several sightings of American Goldfinch in Buellton along Dawn Drive most recently on July 7. Lehman's "Birds of Santa Barbara County" notes them as rare or absent in interior during summer hence my post. The bird has been hanging out in a small patch of sunflower growing in a front yard so has been seen at very close range.
