Last September I posted a notice of Moonglow Dairy closures during the week (Mon-Thur) at the request of California Dept. Fish & Wildlife [CDFW] and Elkhorn Slough National Estuarine Research Reserve [ESNERR], and the project manager of marsh restoration work just west of Moonglow. Those entities had previously done marsh restoration at Hester Marsh, east of Moonglow.
Im now advised by the project manager that this winters weather, with unprecedented rainfall, essentially gummed up the project in winter 2022-23. They now hope to do the restoration work next winter.
In the meantime, spring rookeries will be forming as the west end of Moonglow, in the eucalyptus grove, and they were planning to stop work during the nesting season anyway.
Thus, the Moonglow Dairy closures are now lifted. Ill change the notice on the Hot Spot name for spring/summer; I expect closures will occur next fall. Thanks for the cooperation of all of you.
Do remember that Moonglow Dairy roads become exceedingly muddy during rainy weather, which make the site generally inaccessible to regular cars during and shortly after rains. But as spring weather approaches and the sun comes out, those wet roads will dry. Please be cautious.
Thanks,
