Hello all,
I just wanted to put the word out that it looks as though the Red-flanked Bluetail at the Clark Library in Los Angeles has left. It hasn't been seen since 3/22 and though it is possible it could be hunkering down out of sight somewhere, that seems unlikely. I am away from the library until next Monday, but will obviously let people know (and report to eBird) in the event that it does reappear on my surveys of the grounds next week.
My colleagues and I at the Clark Library & UCLA Center for 17th and 18th Century Studies are extremely thankful to all the kind and thoughtful visitors who have come to the library in the past few months, many of whom have come on tours of the library or given donations. My non-birding colleagues have been really pleasantly surprised and impressed by the birders they have met - and I'm glad to say that they all think very highly of birders now!
Of course, birders all still always welcome at the Clark any time we are open! (Generally M-F 9-4:45, but see our website for limited weekend hours: https://clarklibrary.ucla.edu/ )
*** That said, please note that the Clark is closed tomorrow, Friday, March 29, for Cesar Chavez Day ***
Best, Rebecca Marschall Valley Village/Clark Library
