The Opal-rumped Tanager (Tangara velia) is a species of bird in the Thraupidae family. The Silvery-breasted Tanager is usually included herein as a subspecies Tangara velia cyanomelas. It is found in Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, French Guiana, Guyana, Peru, Suriname, and Venezuela. Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests.
