    Yesterday, while looking for bugs and flowers, I had a somewhat unexpected WHITE-TAILED KITE along Refugio Rd on the north side of the Santa Ynez Mountains*. Otherwise I only noticed the usual breeders.

*: Somewhatconfusingly this is called "South Refugio Rd", as it is to thesouth of the Santa Ynez River.
